Many films get more publicity when being streamed on different platforms than just theaters. Streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime etc. People pay extra to enjoy the movie in their home, rather than put effort in to going to a theater.
Non cinematic films get attention but being broadcasted on each site and over social media. Even some movies out of the theater get put onto the sites for further viewings. For example, the movie “To all the boys I’ve loved” is a popular teen drama that isn’t in theaters but is watched by many.
