‘Gone Girl’ David Fincher

This drama thriller by David Fincher is about a wife that goes missing. This matches up with the pattern of something happening to vulnerable women. The opening clip showed a mans hand caressing a woman’s head as she lays on him. This movie started with an interment moment showing power over the girl. By the man moving and her feeling ‘safe’ gives the man ultimate power. This can reveal that something could happen to the girl either harmful to her or someone she’s close with. There was a monotone during this scene. Meaning there weren’t many words just light movements and slow looks from the woman. There wasn’t a lot of action during this opening scene. Just reveled the main characters and showed the relationship they have developed.

Opening Scene: This scene starts with a husband narrerating about how he wants to crush his wife’s skull to understand her way of thinking on a deeper level. The music gradually shifts into a deeper more coming onto something type of sound. This clip uses high pitch noises to add suspense and build to show something is about to happen. With such violent words used in the beginning and ending with the husband standing in front of the house and looking pale, you can assume he hurt his wife and maybe even kids. Camera angles cut throughout a neighborhood showing the setting. The director wanted to allow the audience to see the type of environment they live in and their way of life. They used that time to introduce the creative team in different corners on the screen. The title was placed in the center of the screen in a small font in a pale color, which can show a new beginning or an awaken feeling.
I took from this scene that..
